The colour of love, the colour of roses
But also as a symbol of danger it poses
A sign of life in the form of blood
Is there even a soul who dislikes it in the world?
The queen of sultry from dresses to cherries
And glossy lips , wine and strawberries
It can empower a woman, taking a spot on her forehead
Or make her impure, confining her for days to her bed
A control freak by nature, loves to be in charge all the time
It sets boundaries for even the rainbows that shine
Who else could dare stop vehicles on busy streets
Or make women too ominous for even God to greet !

Beautifully written and such a descriptive form of loveliness all in the classic form of “ask yourself” poetry. The art you chose to represent your words is wonderful not to mention the perfect color, Red is gorgeous.❤️🌹

Hi. Thanks for a well written poem. Enjoyed reading. Red the colour of fire, of passion, of love of woman and empowerment. What was your inspiration for writing this poem? Happy Writing. Have a wonderful day. Goff

Well.. tbh it began as an outburst for how some people still treat women while on their periods… but then the vibrance of the colour itself inspired me to write more..
Thanks for the appreciation !! 😇♥

Thanks. My pleasure. It is great when a writer talks about their work. It creates the context and breathes a deeper understanding of a particular piece. Best Wishes. Goff

I’m sorry to say I didn’t get the “monthly” connection. But I did think it was a delightful play on the aspect of how dangerous a woman in love can be. I don’t mean that in a negative sense either it has just always seemed to me that when the “blood fever” of love runs high and a woman has her sights on a particular man…he is doomed. Almost like he is the fly and she the flytrap. Maybe I’m not explaining it well. This statement almost feels insulting and that is not my intent. Men are not nearly as alluring as women and a man’s magnetism falls dreadfully short in comparison.

Sorry the monthly commection sort of got lost in the lines confined to bed and ominous for god to great.. they are reerences to a few of the practices followed here in India.. so I don’t think you’ll be familiar to those..
And I do agree with the rst of your words.. I mean I’m a woman (and a completely and hopelessly romantic one at that) .. but I’m yet to experience the flytrap effect yet..😂😂 just fantasizing about it to finally happen…😸

I guess I was unaware of the India connection. But, I like having friends from many lands. Good luck to you and your romantic flytrap abilities. Women are such exceptional beings. When you find your true love your world will shudder and your hearts capacity will expand beyond your dreams.

Lovely flow. A beautiful poem inspired by the 50 shades of red🙂. And I get the reference…It is frustrating how women aren’t allowed in temples, in some places, just because of their periods.
